One who fears the heights <br />And another lone of heart <br />Struggled from isolation’s depths <br />Hoping to make a fresh start <br /> <br />One who always occupied <br />The same solitary spaces <br />Through a curious window found <br />Another who traveled to many places <br /> <br />One who never really searched <br />For a lifetime counterpart <br />Dared make a real connection with <br />One who knew more of Love’s Art <br /> <br />One who never tried, yet true <br />One who tried and lost a few <br />Steeled themselves as small steps they took <br />To precipice’s edge to risk a look <br /> <br />Two having weighed the risk <br />Of making promises to keep <br />Held hands and shared a smile <br />Then together took the leap <br /> <br />One and One became One <br />On Leap Year Day 2004 <br />Instead of the separate Two <br />That they had been before <br /> <br />So if you are thinking of <br />Taking just such a leap <br />For the sake of sharing love <br />That’s both true and deep <br />On Leap Year Day in 2008 <br />Leap, Leap, I say! <br />Leap!
