As I was walking through a field <br />One sunny summer day <br />I came upon a weeping man <br />I listened to what he had to say <br /> <br />“Oh Lord, ” he cried in anguish, <br />“I’ve lost someone that I cherish <br />It happened so very suddenly <br />I didn’t know my love would perish. <br /> <br />He said, “Of all of life’s lessons <br />I was not able to prepare <br />My heart is surely broken <br />I need to know that you care. <br /> <br />We spent so many wonderful years <br />Our lives wrapped tightly together <br />All the years we’d built a special bond <br />Floated away like wind with a feather. <br /> <br />I’m not ready, Lord, to go alone <br />Without the one I love <br />I need to have you touch me <br />From your heavenly home above. <br /> <br />For you see I’m just not strong <br />The way I always thought <br />I was strong enough to work hard <br />It was something my kids were taught <br /> <br />But now my world has stopped <br />I don’t know just what to do <br />I’ll pause and take a deep breath <br />And wait for a sign from you.” <br /> <br />I walked away in sadness <br />And said a prayer to God <br />To make this man whole again <br />Be with him wherever he may trod <br /> <br />For we all will sooner or later <br />Find a time that we must feel love <br />From our God who once created us <br />We must pray for help from above!<br /><br />Marilyn Lott<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/touch-me-lord/
