Behind the closed door <br />of the bathroom <br /> <br />I’ve decided <br />to come clean <br /> <br />holler out at the top of my voice <br />all the Country & Western tunes known to humankind. <br /> <br />“And when we get behind closed doors <br />then ya let your hair hang down <br /> <br />And ya make me glad <br />that I’m a man! ” <br /> <br />Suddenly the door <br />is kicked open <br /> <br />as if it were <br />the Secret Song Police <br /> <br />I instinctively cover <br />my Charley Pride. <br /> <br />“My God...wot’s wrong! ” <br />you burst in upon my rendition. <br /> <br />“I’m singing! ” <br />I state the obvious <br /> <br />And to prove the point <br />sing again. <br /> <br />“And ya make me glad <br />that I’m a man! ” <br /> <br />“I’m singing ‘bout you! ” <br />I explain. <br /> <br />You wince & smile <br /> <br />and without <br />taking off your clothes <br /> <br />step delicately into the bath <br /> <br />and make me <br />glad that I’m <br /> <br />a man. <br /> <br />“Oh no one knows what goes <br />on behind closed doors! ”<br /><br />Dónall Dempsey<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/behind-closed-doors-9/
