On the roof, outside the window <br />are glare crusted humpbacked whales, <br />carved by the unforgiving wind of early March <br />as it pushed through the last breaths <br />of a sinking winter. <br /> <br />The sun crowns, <br />bejewelling these icebound leviathans, <br />dressing them with <br />a delicate blaze of beauty <br />before moving them toward <br />a slow, mellifluous death. <br /> <br />Frosted pods, <br />briefly beached on shingle ridged rooftops, <br />slowly submerge majestically <br />with flukes raised skyward, <br />bowing to the transcendent hunter <br />as new life readies itself <br />beneath the calming waves.<br /><br />Tara Teeling<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/early-march/
