I am struck by a bullet and lying on the battlefield
Hardly can I move an inch, someone please help me!
Bleeding endlessly trying to stop it, but oh God I can't.
Death is in front of me laughing, saying 'oh what a pity'

Trying to crawl towards the field doctor of the platoon
Oh! I cannot, my abdomen hurts and my sight is weak.
Yelled again but no one heard, because the fight was rough
Only option is to kill myself or wish that luck would help.

In the midst of the pain and agony I see my daughter's smile,
Oh God if I die my daughter becomes a fatherless child.
My wife will be a widow and suffer the endless pain.
Oh! What wrong did I commit to go through this torture?

My team cannot hear my twinge, and my plead for help.
The whole battlefield is an ocean of blood and sweat.
This was not the time and place I expected my death,
Oh what a pity Lord I did not do much with my life.

Nilesh Tavarayan

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/a-soldier-s-cry-for-help/
