While talking on the phone today <br />I realize just how far away <br />You are from me in time and space <br />Any yet the memory of your face <br />When I was just a little girl <br />Sets my thoughts of you awhirl; <br /> <br />How young and lovely I recall <br />You used to be when I was small <br />I always thought that you'd be there <br />To comfort me and always care <br />So many years have come and gone <br />I've been away, and life moved on; <br /> <br />Then all at once it came to me <br />That time had passed and so had we <br />So much remains still left undone <br />Where once we lagged, we now must run <br />To finish all we meant to do <br />While you have me and I have you; <br /> <br />For soon you will be gone away <br />Your time is short, you cannot stay <br />Forever on this earthly plane <br />Your body frail and wracked with pain <br />Then memories of us will be <br />All that's left of you and me. <br /> <br />3/16/08<br /><br />Linda Ori<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/fleeting-memories/
