The big brown bear
Roamed into the town
He toddled to the square
With a snarl and a frown

He was looking for food
And a place to sleep
Hurry… improve his mood
Before he makes us weep

911 was hurriedly dialed
Please come now and resolve
Return this beast to the wild
It is your job to get involved

Trained experts arrived in haste
Armed with a tranquilizer gun
Approaching… and being chased
Suddenly they were on the run

Hightailing it to their Jeep
Accelerating with fear
As the salivating bear took a leap
And landed in the rear

Zigging and zagging they rapidly drove
Far away to the edge of a flowing stream
Filled with salmon near a tree lined cove
It was the fury bear’s ultimate dream

Stopping abruptly… the rangers prayed
As the hitchhiker departed with a grin
Lumbering to the edge and starting to wade
Eagerly eating a meal of scales and fins

The town’s people are now at ease
The terror of being devoured has passed
The chubby bear’s appetite is appeased
No longer does he seek a human breakfast

4/1/08

Theresa Ann Moore

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/satisfied-hunger/
