Two plastic bags <br />obviously tipsy <br /> <br />too much wind <br />to drink <br /> <br />saunter on down <br />the middle of the street <br /> <br />(ignoring the traffic) <br /> <br />as if they owned it. <br /> <br />“ ’Oi...darling! ” <br />they seem to shout <br /> <br />to a discarded <br />curvy Coke bottle <br /> <br />who tries <br />to ignore them. <br /> <br />They pester her <br />until the wind <br /> <br />leaves them <br />high & dry <br /> <br />and they come to rest <br />on a blue BMW <br /> <br />waiting for <br />someone <br /> <br />to take them <br />for a ride.<br /><br />Dónall Dempsey<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/far-gone/
