Nithin Pradeep - Confessions of a Woodcutter

I always stood for profanity
In these years passed by, I was harsh
The axe was tampered with
an unconscious branch here, a rotten flower there

So divine was its legend!
my legacy had been preserved and,
the tree was my friend at times, my first love
When 'solitude' was not the right word;
but then…

'divine stupidity! Its disgusting! '-I said
I smashed her to smithereens,
she, like my enemy warrior, fell
and kissed the dust......
beneath my highly held head of 'pure and saturated' ego

ah! here comes an end of a long epic
I ended it my way!
but then....

I was suppressed and lonely
back to solitude, back to nothingness
I chose but not to live
for my legacy is no more

'oh lord! '-I pleaded
for divinity has never been less stupid
'I am disarmed, weak and a mortal;
I have lost my history, I am no more
but she's immortal, death didn’t kill her
for your logic was nothing less than perfect
she knows not regret-neither lust nor disgust
she's a phoenix-so beautiful are her wings

I regret, I confess
I sympethise my dumb old friend,
for those thousand blows she went through,
I was harsh

I had burnt her house
her friends were fried, and I was delighted

my cunning, my malice-set world ablaze
But greed-still young and robust,
hey, 'immortal' soul!
May I be changed?

I await the day of reckoning,
the moment of redemption.
to regenerate those old days
I beseech-may I have pardon?

Nithin Pradeep

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/confessions-of-a-woodcutter/
