Driving home one moonless night <br />On a country road the only light <br />is from the headlights of my car <br /> beams of light that reaches far <br /> <br />Around the bend two frozen eyes <br />Taken by complete surprise <br />A possum versus a ton of steel! <br />Thump, thump! now he's under the wheel <br /> <br />The possums heart ceases to beat <br />To a bird of pray he's just fresh meat <br />That night another possum yields <br />But for him i had to cross two fields! <br /> <br />For these creatures of the night <br />Its a shame they have such poor eyesight! <br />The light must hypnotise their brain <br />Either that, or they are insane!<br /><br />Bob Gibson<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/a-possum-s-tale/
