My cellphone rings, <br />Bad news it brings. <br />A dear friend is now lying, <br />On her hospital bed dying. <br /> <br />Inflicted with a dreadful disease, <br />Cancerous breast that cannot cease <br />As it metastasize destroying her will, <br />And all body systems once so very well. <br /> <br />When we gather around her, <br />All our classmates are sad to hear <br />As she talks about her aspirations, <br />Which will soon end into frustrations. <br /> <br />Like a loving mum in trouble, <br />Her innate intuition is mumble <br />The ultimate request she dares, <br />Ask as final favor for us to share. <br /> <br />Her last wish is for us to assist, <br />Her eldest daughter just to persist <br />In her studies so she soon graduate, <br />And finish her degree on the right date. <br /> <br />A promise is made we will extend, <br />In whatever legal means to help spend <br />Just so a mother's dream will come true, <br />Then finally she leaves us happy not blue.<br /><br />Marvin Brato Sr<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/a-mother-s-last-favor/
