In my laziness <br />I started late <br />To meet you, <br />You talked to me <br />Your voice trembling <br />You were in great pain <br />But your courage <br />You did not make me realize <br />You asked me that I pray for you <br />I left you to others care <br />You did not complain <br />You knew I will understand myself one day <br />And when I reached <br />You were silent <br />Breathing heavily <br />Your eyes turned silent… <br />You were struggling for life <br />In deep coma <br />You had started your journey <br />You were lost in some conversation <br />Memories…. <br />Your struggle in life <br />Your child like face <br />So many stories <br />It revealed <br />“I have not lived but survived” <br />A last attempt <br />Of your favorite habit <br />Pulling your hand below the pillow <br />As you turned side <br />You wanted to say so many things to me <br />But now face to face with great reality <br />You have forgotten me <br />In a flicker of a moment <br />Your eyes fell on me <br />A deep urge to survive <br />A few moments more <br />Your sweet eyes <br />Now glittering like jewels <br />My son you are late! <br />Said your eyes <br />I am too far away <br />On a delightful journey, <br />My dear father <br />I know what you wanted to say <br />I shall also try to survive <br />I am traveler of the same path <br />The great divine mystery<br /><br />Sadiqullah Khan<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/you-are-late/
