ODE TO MYSELF <br />Melvin Banggollay <br /> <br /> <br />With every breath that beckons me, <br />I mourned with tears without melody <br />As the dungeon of pains and misery <br />pricked my heart with thorns of agony <br />for I lost the joy of life that shields me <br />when I was killed without any mercy <br />by the woman I vowed to love faithfully <br />As she poisoned me with her infidelity <br />by loving the charm of her somebody. <br /> <br />Darkness blinded my eyes with tears <br />As I was filled with unexplainable fears <br />For losing the love I adored with cheers <br />and nurtured with faith through all the years <br />While memories of yesterday appeared <br />With all her charm to remind me of the years <br />I smiled with joy, peace, and laughters. <br /> <br />I knew if I will rest this life given to me <br />This woman will surely mock at me, <br />won't weep nor shed a teardropp for me <br />to let me see that she was indeed sorry <br />for clothing me with pains that slowly <br />killing me and taking this breath away <br />As I behold no joy to live with any lady <br />but as I look upon my child, I felt pity <br />and seek refuge from his innocent beauty <br />for I knew he still needs my tender mercy. <br /> <br />Oh, God bless me then with courage <br />To keep me away from painful outrage, <br />Give me strength to build the bridge <br />I need to cross life's river with courage.<br /><br />MELVIN BANGGOLLAY<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/ode-to-myself-2/
