I saw her face
In a photograph,
In a crowd...
But she was alone,
And Her Soul Cried.

It was a 'busy' picture,
A race-day crowd,
You know the kind - -
Everyone is talking to someone - -
Everyone is listening to someone - -
Everyone has a drink it their hand - -
Everyone is laughing, and happy - - -
Except for her! !

She was alone,
In a crowd,
And Her Soul Cried!

Her hat had a hugh brim,
And it was tilted,
Just so,
Down to her eyes,
And the veil was tied, just so - -
And she longed to be
Somewhere, Anywhere else - -
And Her Soul Cried.

I cried for her - -
And with her - -
For there was no rescue - -
She was trapped for all time,
There, in the timeless photograph,
Alone in the crowd, frozen there - -
And Her Soul Cried.

Scarlett Treat
April 28,2008

Scarlett Treat

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/and-her-soul-cried/
