I Fell Like A Failure <br />by Barbara Lynn Terry <br /> <br />I feel like a failure <br />with no one to hold my hand <br />and pull me from the depths of the pit <br />of despair, that I have fallen into. <br /> <br />I have no legacy, I have no money, <br />I have no property, I have no energy. <br />what can I do to pull away from the evil <br />that has entangled my feet in its vines? <br /> <br />I feel like a failure <br />with no one near to call a friend <br />but maybe this evil I can end <br />if only I had the courage. <br /> <br />There are poets, writers of every kind, <br />but I can’t even edit a simple line, <br />because in the turmoil of my mind, <br />I cannot even find the line of Rhyme. <br /> <br />I feel like a failure <br />with no direction to go, <br />no place to sit and rest, <br />but anyway I do my best. <br /> <br />I feel like a failure, <br />I have no real job, <br />as I ponder the human condition, <br />only to find it is inside of me. <br /> <br />I feel like a failure, <br />missed opportunities <br />of slamming doors <br />in my shocked face. <br /> <br />I should be strong, but the fight isn’t there. <br />I should be true to myself, but I am a traitor. <br />I should look for all the good <br />but I just skulk and brood. <br /> <br />I feel like a failure. <br /> <br />© 2008 by Barbara Lynn Terry<br /><br />Barbara Lynn Terry<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/i-feel-like-a-failure/
