We live in a throwaway society <br />and hardly anyone <br />appreciates anything they got. <br />Years ago, we looked after <br />everything we had; <br />if it got broken, we mended it. <br />Now if something gets broken, <br />most discard it in a bin, <br />then go to the local shops <br />and start all over again. <br />It seems to me <br />there is no appreciation anymore, <br />even when it comes to food. <br />They talk of the world’s starving, <br />yet everyday tons and tons of food <br />is just thrown away. <br />When will someone ever say stop, <br />don’t throw that away, <br />fix it for another generation <br />so they can learn and play. <br />As for the food <br />lets stop the wastage there. <br />If we did that, <br />there might well be enough to share <br />and no baby in the world <br />would go hungry anymore. <br /> <br />6 May 2008<br /><br />David Harris<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/a-throwaway-society/
