The Gospels teach us that our one hand should not <br />know what the other is doing, this being a lesson in <br />humility where good acts are concerned. However, <br />Man corrupts all things to serve its own purpose: <br /> <br />We do harm only with the one hand, <br />so that the guilt is not shared by the other. <br />We use the left hand to hold onto unforgiveness <br />while the right hand lights a candle for our souls. <br /> <br />We allow one hand to reach out to those in need while <br />the other takes away from the ones who need the most. <br />We give love with our one hand at the same time <br />as the other is receiving morsels from a forbidden table <br /> <br />Surely life should be embraced with both our hands, <br />the one being accountable to the other? <br />- our palms open to give and receive - <br />our fingers entwined with those of the ones we love.<br /><br />YURI DURAAN<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/on-the-other-hand-4/
