some people say my heart is black <br />some people say my heart is cold <br />every one says that compassion is what i lack <br />that i am young, but my soul is old <br />what people dont realize is that i am tired of heartache <br />i dont have the patience for love <br />too many times has someone made my heart break <br />and made love what i am afraid of <br />my heart is not black <br />my heart is not cold <br />i am just afraid to go back <br />to be torn straight to the soul <br />it hurts when people say these things <br />even though i know it isnt true <br />in my head they always ring <br />a feeling that isnt new <br />but what really hurts <br />and cuts me to the bone <br />is when people say i have no heart <br />and will live my life alone <br />this hurts so bad <br />and leaves me scarred <br />and just makes me so mad <br />i put up my guard <br />the reason this gets me <br />is because i know it is the truth <br />my heart has left my body <br />because it belongs to you <br />all i want is for you to give it back <br />i dont want to be in love any longer <br />for compassion is something you lack <br />and this experience didnt make me stronger <br />if anything it made me weaker <br />because you lead me to believe you loved me <br />you are the best lier <br />so please just set me free<br /><br />Rebecca Howard<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/black-heart-7/
