The house is so quiet, and still, <br />With the morning still fresh and new, <br />And the babies are still asleep <br />While the world is fresh with dew. <br /> <br />As I sit and read, quietly welcoming the day, <br />I hear a little cry, and I just know I hear Sam say <br />My name, calling me to him <br />Ready to start his day. <br /> <br />I pick him up, for he smiles just for me, <br />And in his big blue eyes, I see <br />All the love he has to give, <br />And for me, I start to live. <br /> <br />Then I hear the patter of little feet. <br />I hear someone call, 'Mee-Mee? ' <br />I reply, 'I am here, waiting just for you! <br />Come give me a hug, for the world is new, ' <br /> <br />And with her tiny hands and arms, <br />She hugs me tight - - <br />And says, 'I love you, ' <br />And starts my day just right! <br /> <br />With her sleep smell still clinging to her, <br />Dragging Ted E.
