I stand stunned <br />as I come down <br /> <br />the incredibly steep stairs <br />as she comes up. <br /> <br />She looks so much <br />as Anne would. <br /> <br />Outside an Amsterdam sun <br />shines down on this tourist must <br /> <br />and here I am <br />doing the rounds. <br /> <br />I think that she is(perhaps an actress?) <br />hired by the museum <br /> <br />but no <br />she’s a real <br />live flesh & blood <br /> <br />tourist just like I <br /> <br />and moves like a ghost <br />looking at the pictures <br /> <br />of movie stars & starlets <br /> <br />as if she had just <br />pasted them there. <br /> <br />She leaves & leaves me <br /> <br />unsure of what I’ve seen <br /> <br />as if I had met Anne Frank <br /> <br />in person.<br /><br />Dónall Dempsey<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/meeting-anne/
