Please lend me your wings let me fly over mountains
As night is now fading into the sunrise,
Above the horizon where cold rugged shadows
Now melt to the light of the glorious skies.

So high up above let me sail to the distance
And ride on the clouds that in scarlet do glow,
Then soar through the air with the beams shining brightly
That light up my feathers wherever I go.

I'll sense there the warmth of the dawn all around me
I'll float on the thermals and into the blue,
While feeling the freedom alone in the heavens
An ocean unending, a marvellous view.

And then I'd look down on the earth in its glory
That's lifting from darkness to herald the day,
And I'd never rest I would fly on forever
For there I would gaze at that wondrous display.

Please lend me your wings let me fly over mountains
As night is now fading into the sunrise,
Where hope is eternal so I'll go on dreaming
And soar in the light of the glorious skies.

ANDREW BLAKEMORE

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/please-lend-me-your-wings/
