The sea <br />Beckoned to me <br />Like a mother <br />Calling. <br /> <br /> <br />I answered <br />In a voice barely a whisper <br />Yet in a word, <br />My dreams spread its wings. <br /> <br /> <br />The lavenders and the blues, <br />The greens in hazy hues, <br />I saw these through the eyes <br />The eyes of the sea that cries. <br /> <br /> <br />Yet my dreams were too big, <br />For the sea to hold, <br />I ran, I shouted, I tried, <br />All for my dreams, <br />My dreams, <br />My dreams that I had. <br /> <br /> <br />A cushion to a fall <br />A late embrace to a shattered wall. <br /> <br /> <br />The sea <br />Beckoned to me <br />Like a friend <br />Being a friend. <br /> <br /> <br />But I was kite <br />Not wanting to be tied <br />Not wanting to be held <br />Not wanting to hide. <br /> <br /> <br />And the lavenders and the blues <br />And the greeny hues, <br />Turned pumpkin, grinning, sneering, <br />Mocking me. <br /> <br /> <br />I shut my eyes <br />Not wanting to see <br />I shut my dreams <br />That made me. <br /> <br /> <br />But the sea was there, <br />With it's salty tears, <br />All weeping for that girl that was lost, <br />Defeated by her dreams, <br />Drowned by its cost. <br /> <br /> <br />And the sea turned red <br />Weeping blood. <br /> <br /> <br />And the sky turned red <br />Bleeding blood. <br /> <br /> <br />I looked up to watch <br />The birds fade <br />Into the lavenders and the blues <br />The greens in hazy hues, <br />As it dawned on me, <br />That's the last time I heard <br />The sea's call. <br /> <br /> <br />And I am left <br />With a late embrace to a shattered wall.<br /><br />Izobelle Pulgo<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/a-late-embrace-to-a-shattered-wall/
