Moody miserable looking day <br />The sun preferring to remain <br />Hide since first ray; <br />Sky black faced morose <br />Sends down thunderous cursing roars… <br /> <br />Hooligan wind freed, scoops in <br />To drive out hapless dry leaves <br />The lonely pavements off; <br />Chilling my spine now it begins <br />To rain, out there cats and dogs… <br /> <br />I look out of my window panes <br />To me the world outside seen <br />Drained of life deserted forlorn <br />Left alone to face the onslaught from top; <br />No body around here? Oh! I find her close… <br /> <br />Right on top of my neighbor’s roof <br />I see a crow on the edge of eaves board <br />Sitting as if in deep trance <br />Sodden unmindful of the outside chaos <br />Created by the sky atop… <br /> <br />What she is doing out there I wonder <br />Could have moved yards to the tree over <br />And sought shelter from rains’ torture <br />But no; bathing in the horrendous showers <br />She sits sharp with her uncanny eyes… <br /> <br />I wait; watch again to locate her sight <br />She looks towards a hole down the lane <br />A hole large, to where the run off rush <br />Passing the yard the pavements and bush <br />Where the flow gets sucked and water out gush… <br /> <br />And all of sudden I see her take off <br />Stoop and pick up a sizable frog <br />That comes out of the pit water logged; <br />With prey on her beak, flying she goes, <br />Towards a branch of that tree near of… <br /> <br />Thunder roars; the wind witnessing soars <br />Rain continues to come down non stop <br />And I learn a telling truth of life <br />From this wise bird; a lesson how to spot <br />One’s daily meals; lesson essential all us for…<br /><br />Kesav Venkat Easwaran<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/a-lesson-to-learn-2/
