She said around the edges you seem a bit rough <br />For to say the least you pen some negative stuff <br />In the literary World you'll never be one of note <br />So many poetasters for every poet <br />Her words hurt a tiny bit only a tad <br />Though the truth can be bitter the truth's never bad <br />Her remarks were ego deflating but i copped it sweet <br />On our journey through life every sort we do meet <br />Some may look upon her as not very kind <br />But credit her she is one who speaks her mind <br />Those who criticize us some credit are due <br />She only told me what to her did seem true <br />Her words did not flatter me one little bit <br />And i had little choice but to grin and bear it.<br /><br />Francis Duggan<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/her-words-did-not-flatter-me/
