A deep breathe, the window a deep mist, <br />what has happened, an unexpected twist. <br />The reflection, a sight of deep sadness, <br />used to a life of pure happiness. <br />My eyes close, <br />once again time froze. <br />The memories haunt me, <br />the thought, there you'll be. <br />A hug in public, holding your hand, <br />the first time at the beach, walking along the sand. <br />Chest feeling tight, <br />head going light. <br />Need to breathe, need a new start, <br />the body cannot work without the heart. <br />That energy, that attitude towards life, <br />that's what she fell in love with, that's why she wanted to be my wife. <br />She said we were two different people, she wanted a different thing, <br />after that, sleepless nights as I stared at her engagement ring. <br />Lying there on our bed, <br />constant thoughts running through my head. <br />Sometimes people change, maybe for the greater good, <br />after all this time I finally understood. <br />the window clears, <br />a new refection appears. <br />No more sadness, no more tears. <br />The sun bursts through the glass, the warmth on my skin, <br />I am back, and life will now begin.<br /><br />ADAM WARD<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/breathe-41/
