I live thousands of miles south of old Hibernia's shore <br />One voice from old Duhallow just that and nothing more <br />My prime years in the early seventies my better days long gone <br />And only the desire to live that keeps me keeping on <br />Like all of those i went to school with I've known a better day <br />And the years are taking toll on me and have left me looking gray, <br />One voice from old Duhallow where i lived in my prime <br />The young man of the seventies is now an ageing man of rhyme <br />One voice from old Duhallow but a lesser voice 'twould seem <br />And in my flights of fancy i visualize the old stream <br />Babbling it's way through Claraghatlea by many a hedgerow <br />From it's birthplace in a high field of Claramore to the river it does flow, <br />One voice from old Duhallow but a voice few wish to hear <br />From Claraghatlea by Clara hill many miles north of here.<br /><br />Francis Duggan<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/one-voice-from-old-duhallow/
