Work, <br />How horrible you are. <br />I don’t think I’m cut <br />From a cubicle mold. <br /> <br />Pointless and stupid, <br />And to use bigger words <br />Would be to flatter <br /> much more than I can. <br /> <br />What are these issues <br />In this two-bit town <br />And do they think your important <br />Because their “degreed”. <br /> <br />Well I’m degreed <br />And I know I’m important <br />But damned if I know the <br />Point of this role. <br /> <br />Customer's i have <br />Fulfillment i don't <br />Coordinator, im not sure <br />Just what it <br />mean's anyway. <br /> <br />In college atleast <br />I lived to the name. <br />And I’m sure they'd agree <br />that filling I did. <br /> <br />But now its work, <br />And to you I’m relegated <br />A fancy title and this shaded window. <br /> <br />If I had only tried <br />Harder in high school, <br />Skipped a party <br />And skipped a state school. <br />Maybe Yale wasn’t calling <br />But still more than this <br />And more than this, <br />I’m positive I’ll find. <br /> <br />Because I’m too neurotic <br />To be caged like some clown <br />And <br />You’re a bitch, <br />For trying to do so. <br /> <br />I’ll keep biding my time <br />Maybe put in a year <br />And at the end of the day <br />I know I can count <br /> <br />That while you all toil, <br />Sitting and typing <br />With ergonomic exercises <br />And new life dreams <br /> <br />I’ll wait and I’ll wait <br />just 4 more months <br />Because one thing I’ve learned <br />Connections do matter. <br /> <br />Life's not what you know <br />But who you really know, <br />And powerful family <br />Is one thing I have. <br /> <br />So work, <br />laugh while you can <br />Because Europe is calling <br />And it’s calling my name. <br /> <br /> <br />Copyright (C) David DeSantis<br /><br />David DeSantis<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/rant-10-on-work/
