You mostly will find them where there is decay <br />In wood piles or cracks in timber well hidden away <br />From predators and from the bright lamp of day <br />One of a group of Nature's composters and 'twould be fair to say <br />That in the workings of Nature they do play a role <br />They are the tiny gleaners of Mother Earth's soul <br />Invertebrates tiny things without a back bone <br />They even find shelter under a small stone <br />They live in your garden and they live in your house <br />And they are referred to as woodlice or woodlouse <br />Armadillo shaped tiny grey insects and not hard to find <br />And one thing about them you should keep in mind <br />That they are friends of Nature and when them you do see <br />You too be Nature's friend by leaving them be.<br /><br />Francis Duggan<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/woodlice-or-woodlouse/
