Lost in the fragrant sultry air of this warm summer night,
Longing to forge my mind and pen in poet form.
My eager words outweigh my inspiration,
A struggle within my thoughts, like the brewing of a storm.

I could write of the mystery of the moon, of castles faraway,
The heaven's constellations, the dawn's last star,
The ember of passion, the whisper of dreams,
Of love lost too soon, the eternal healing of a broken heart.

With pen in hand, I follow destiny's voice, I think of you and I,
How our path's have crossed, two prayers joined, now bound tight.
We only know each other by way of heart, a gift given...held so dear.
Your words end my weary night, my words begin your dawn's first light.

Your sweet optimism of peace, fairytales and dreams.
Your quest to persuade me eternal, that they too, can be my reality.
We offer each other comfort, share words of family, of those we love,
Our words of wisdom, spiritualism and beliefs, our love of the sea.

We summon this devine companionship, to share our wishes,
Our haunts, where we've been, where we need to go.
Through unspoken boundaries, no promises made,
Smiles from within our hearts, words coming from within our souls.

(Undeniably, unmistakably for Michael....'thank you'....)

Cathleen Hodgkinson

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/two-prayers-joined/
