A prayer- A confession <br /> <br /> <br />Behind my days <br />I was a pilgrim <br />Through endless night <br />Were no scent but only <br />Hate to the air fumed <br />Were no flowers buds <br />Jealousy all over the path <br />The torch was dead <br />I can’t see the passage out <br />Out from the vault of unbelief <br />Within fear consumed me; <br />Lust had eaten my flesh; <br />Greed had sucked my blood; <br />Pride had weakened my bones; <br />Malice had taken what had <br />Had left of me <br />I was then a rotten body- <br />The disease of guilt buried me <br />No tears but only <br />Dry earth awaits me <br />No hymn but only <br />Sadness engraved on my tomb <br />Alas! Doom, my final of days <br />Oh Heavens be my judge <br />From the clay I came to be <br />Out of mud I was born <br />Let your anger be <br />A punishment of pardon <br />-for the journey I had taken <br />In the valley of sin <br />Oh Heavens be my council <br />Let your wrath be <br />A plague of forgiveness <br />For I was innocent inside my mother’s womb; <br />For I was ignorant <br />Within my father’s house <br />Oh Heavens hear me <br />Let your anger be of mercy <br />Make my tears cleans me <br />My emptiness to clothe me <br />My prayer to welcome me <br />Oh Heavens <br />To new life receive me <br />From death save me <br />Light of the heavens <br />Cast away- the darkness of my soul, <br />In my heart expose my nakedness <br />My God deliver me <br />Light of the heavens <br />Come illumine the night <br />And again let me see thee <br />Light of the heavens <br />In your breath again shape me <br />In your wisdom form me <br />To the spirit of thy son <br />Light of the heavens- Oh God <br />Amen glory to thee- the Eternal One<br /><br />Jordan Legaspi<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/a-prayer-a-confession/
