Beware Of Dog
by Barbara Lynn Terry

The order came over the cab radio,
to pick up a man at the side door.
When I got there, there was a gate,
that had a sign that said 'beware of Dog'.
I went back to the cab and got two treats,
and went back to the gate.
The dog was a full grown pit bull terrier,
That growled and showed his teeth,
but I held up a treat, and the dog sat.
I threw the one treat over the gate,
and he went to get it and started
eating. I went in the gate, and
tossed the other treat at his feet.
I rang the door bell, and the man
answered. Increduously he asked,
'How did you get in here? '
I pointed to the dog,
and all the man said was,
'You traitor.'

Barbara Lynn Terry

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/beware-of-dog/
