Shy monster closed his only eye, <br />and let a tear run down his nose. <br />He didn’t really like to cry, <br />but such sadness in him arose. <br /> <br />No one would love him, he was sad, <br />and dropped his head in deep despair. <br />Why was he made to look so bad, <br />it wasn’t right, it wasn’t fair. <br /> <br />He fought hard not to think like this, <br />he’d smile and put on a brave face. <br />All he had wanted was just a kiss, <br />and someone to perhaps, embrace. <br /> <br />Nobody else looked quite like him, <br />he was the only ugly one. <br />Now all his hopes were looking dim, <br />would he find his own ‘honeybun’. <br /> <br />He took himself off, for a walk, <br />along a verdant country road. <br />And taking the first wide right fork, <br />he saw a bright object explode. <br /> <br />This craft was shiny, bright and new, <br />a flying saucer, landing here. <br />And as his interest quickly grew, <br />someone came strolling from its rear. <br /> <br />One eye surveyed his personae, <br />and smiled as if she knew him well. <br />She kind of liked this monster guy, <br />and thought that he was rather swell. <br /> <br />Taking his hand she asked him in <br />to see her opulent abode. <br />And kissed him on his hairy chin, <br />making his joy one hundred fold. <br /> <br />They flew off in the dark of night, <br />to their own special rendezvous. <br />It was to be love at first sight, <br />she’d come, this monster to rescue. <br /> <br /> <br />© Ernestine Northover<br /><br />Ernestine Northover<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/love-at-first-sight-2/
