As cloud now lies upon the hills
That cuts their peaks like scything blades,
Engulfing then the emerald slopes
And turning them to grey
The distant land now cloaked afar
As hidden is its shape and form,
I can but dream of times before
Now lost unto this day.

And as the light does slowly fade
As clouds do roll across the sea,
Upon the gusts of wind that blows
The bringers of the rain,
Like smoke they drift and fill the air
While shrouding every hill and field,
A chill descends a ghostly hand
Does grip this scene of pain.

It shan't let go until the front
Has passed to let the sunlight shine,
Upon the peaks and emerald slopes
That once did greet me there,
And yet for now there seems no end
No beam to break the drizzle skies,
That sweeps across the waiting land
And fills it with despair.

ANDREW BLAKEMORE

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/as-cloud-now-lies-upon-the-hills/
