David Harris - Country Travelin’ Man

2014-11-08 4 Dailymotion

I’m a country travelin’ man
riding a boxcar whenever I can.
Summer you will find me
where the north winds blow
among the big forests
where the giant pine trees grow.
Winter I am way down south
among the oranges
in a California grove.
No one place is my home.
Nowhere is where I want to stay.
I don’t care if the wind
blows rough or fair
and my clothes are all threadbare.
‘Cause I’m a country travelin’ man
and everywhere is my home.

23 October 1998

Authors note:
I discovered this little piece while sorting out some papers. I wrote it on a paper bag, which suggests I was out somewhere at the time and that would have been the only thing at hand to write it down.
David Harris
31 August 2008

David Harris

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/country-travelin-man/
