I don't necessarily ask that you agree. <br />Or assess me personally. <br />Whether we have ever met... <br />Or if that becomes a possibility. <br /> <br />And yet... <br />What I do wish for us, <br />Is an ability to discuss and grow. <br />To let one another know... <br />Our thoughts can be exchanged! <br />And we are listening. <br />From within our hearts. <br />With an honesty that remains. <br /> <br />And inside our minds from where it starts, <br />An awareness of a caring begins. <br />To leave us realizing... <br />We are there and available to receive. <br />If we allow ourselves to believe, <br />We can receive and be free of restrictions. <br /> <br />And we will comprehend, <br />Without feeling a need to offend... <br />In condescending contradictions. <br />To patronize insecurities suspected. <br />But wishing to send forward, <br />Instead... <br />An understanding desired. <br />That is given. <br /> <br />And that is all I ask, <br />We can to each other give. <br /> <br /> <br />Note: <br />Barack Obama and his campaign message <br />of 'We Can' seems such an appropriate theme <br />for today.
