The crimson leaves now turning colors <br />The bloom they have had of the joys of the spring <br />Cold breeze with the refreshing fragrance <br />Alongside flowers and fruits sweet <br /> <br />The moisture in the air changes <br />Bidding farewell to the tree life giving <br />The earth’s richness transformed into its green <br />Falling one by one but before the final bow <br /> <br />The myriad of colors for the last sight <br />The fading green with the autumnal hues <br />The cracking leaves that fall on the ground <br />On the grass’s surface and stuck in the weeds <br /> <br />The season of the grapes so life giving <br />Enthralled am I by the beauty of autumn <br />My heart pounds with the thought of celebration <br />Of the onset of autumn and the dry stems <br /> <br />When seen in the full moon and that flock <br />Of the birds migrating in the night <br />To warmer places in the beauty of the earth <br />A painting subtle for the eye to behold <br /> <br />Alone though I am tonight <br />When I ponder on the beauty of the seasons <br />A festivity galore deep in my heart <br />Surrounded though I am with none <br /> <br />In my imaginations I dream of the day <br />When the festival of grapes and the wines in the yards <br />The merry girls and the youth jump up and down <br />For the winters are around to knock on the door <br />12/9/2008<br /><br />Sadiqullah Khan<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/ode-to-autumn-2/
