I’ve loved so many of you <br />recklessly, <br />no olfactory enough <br />no orchid too sweet <br />no garden bloomed enough, <br />no grandeur fitting. <br /> <br />I've built altars to you <br />strung participles from my heart, <br />spun putty soft evocative usherings, <br />countenanced every silver emotion band-aid <br />to be stripped from me <br />as I sought to wade deep depths into you; <br />I have been thrill-kissed, -dive bombed- <br />and surrendered all to you. <br /> <br />I’ve had magic walks; <br />idyllic and ebullient, <br />stuttering and delicious; <br /> <br />got all dressed up for company.. <br />merged with you. <br /> <br />I have sought your emblenishments at odd hours; <br />laid hands upon you <br />silently. <br /> <br />In hushed tones; <br />I am content to be with <br />you <br />languidly. <br /> <br />But now you’re all gone <br />to other lives; <br />and lovers <br />and I sit <br />closeted with my redemption; <br />emptied arms; <br />staring down these later years <br />in wonderment about <br />how soon it came <br />and spent.<br /><br />Lonnie Hicks<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/odd-hour-lovers/
