When souls meet,
Beauty of face does not matter,
For beauty, for sure,
Is in the eye of the beholder,
And love changes our eyes,
Making us blind to all
But what our souls can see,
To what our hearts perceive,
To what our minds understand
As our reality.

In life,
Where death is a very real possibility,
We wait,
And we wait,
To grab that slice of life
That leads to love, ever after,
If love comes along.

We look at this one,
And say, 'How lovely! '
Or we see that one,
And say, 'Handsome as a Greek God! ! '

But we cannot see
The darkness that resides,
Soul deep.

Maybe, just maybe,
We allow the ugly ones
To walk on by,
Failing to see the beauty
That shines from the light
Of the soul...

But, if we are the few
That Fortune favors,
And if our time has come,
If love comes along,
Soul will meet soul - -
And find its home.

Scarlett Treat
September 22,2008

Scarlett Treat

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/if-love-comes-along/
