Trucker Guy <br />Like a modern day cowboy he'd load up in his seat <br />He'll have to run hard just to compete <br />The road is his love, his life and his home <br />For twenty years now long has he roamed <br /> <br />Each line on his face a story of their own <br />'This one' he says comes from being alone <br />The one over there...we'll who's to say <br />I'm sure if it could talk it would have plenty to say <br /> <br />For hours on end his mind drifts off <br />To new places ahead....too bad he cant stop <br />He looks in the mirrors to memories long passed <br />The future he says is one he hopes that will last <br /> <br />Home is where he lays his head <br />Who knows where that might be <br />He only has one thing on his mind <br />This loads deadline is at three <br /> <br />For miles on end his tires sing a song <br />One he's heard before but always sings along <br />The yellow stained fingers and the breath of caffeine <br />'Every mile a new memory' he says with a gleam <br /> <br />Mama and the kids depend on me <br />They call me every night and keep me company <br />The thoughts that we share...the visions in their heads <br />Makes it all worthwhile, a trucker I'm proud to be!<br /><br />Tim Rawson<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/trucker-guy/
