Last night, walked down the garden <br />Noticed myriad colors on the rosebushes, <br />Darling, said mom, <br />which is for you. <br /> <br />Smiled I, looked at all, <br />For each had a story, so different, so tall. <br /> <br />This, an amiable red, a different hue, <br />Rose so vauntingly crimson, bright with dew, <br />Said, <br />“pluck me fairest, <br />shall build thee castles aloft the mountains, <br />place thee on pedestal, <br />adore and worship thee, love thee <br />till death do us part”. <br /> <br />The second, jocund, pink, and fragrant fair, <br />heady scent adorned the air, <br />Said, <br />“Me a treasure trove of fragrances- <br />thou shall only wear me, <br />see me, inhale me, breathe me, <br />that’s because I love thee more than myself”. <br /> <br />The third a trendy, shaded crimson and pink, <br />with tantalizing hues in the afternoon sun. <br />Said, <br />“pluck me. I love thee true- <br />want to adorn thee, <br />queen of my heart, <br />but wait till I have petalled to the full”. <br /> <br />The fourth the shrewd, <br />took advantage, heard gossip <br />the others had to say. <br />Expeditiously said, - <br />“I am an esoteric mixture of the first and second, <br />I am he- to protect thee, <br />from the raging bees. <br />The bees in their cecity see me, thus leave thee safe”. <br /> <br />But one contumacious little bud came popping out the leaves, <br />Small lil reticent fellow, oh so sweet, <br />Said “hey buddy, love buddy, sweet buddy, <br />I am he- I love thee, <br />for what thou art, <br />In good times and in bad times, <br />shall always adorn thee, <br />shall always be thy juvenescent fragrant love <br />Shall cherish thee AS THOU ART.” <br /> <br />I told Mom-this one for me.<br /><br />ANJALI SINHA<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/this-one-is-for-me/
