Go and hang out your dirty laundry <br />so that all the world can see. <br />What dirt lies in the weave of what you've worn <br />those hidden parts of what's not cleaned. <br /> <br />Pull each piece from your basket <br />go ahead, clothespin them on the lines. <br />For the sun will never bleach their stains <br />of what anothers eyes and ears will find. <br /> <br />Yet we parade them on the air waves <br />if they were some Military badges of honor and such. <br />Faceless, changed names of a hopeless people <br />who's lives have been tormented with their own discuss. <br /> <br />Does it give one some kind of pleasure? <br />To share the dirts pain that is imbedded there within? <br />Or is it confession they're looking for? <br />that approved cleansing of their dirty laundries sin? <br /> <br />Whatever the real case may be <br />go if you must, and hang them on the line. <br />And maybe with cleansing rain, time and sun <br />they will all fade from your view and mine.<br /><br />Linda Winchell<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/hang-out-your-dirty-laundry/
