Today I saw a young woman <br />who had such an angelic face. <br />Unfortunately her body <br />was twisted and deformed. <br />A defect of birth <br />or a crippling disease, <br />I could not be sure. <br />What I am sure of was the smile on her face; <br />it was a mark of courage. <br />Courage to carry on <br /> and be normal as can be. <br />Her friends took no notice <br />of her broken body, <br />only of her as a person, <br />which said a lot for them. <br />To them she was as normal as you and I. <br />There were no imperfections <br />that clouded their eyes. <br />Just friendship deep and pure. <br />They laughed and joked <br />just as friends would do. <br />No one cast a stare <br />as often people do. <br />I smiled when she turned my way, <br />my acceptance of whom she was, <br />a young woman <br />with an angelic laughing face. <br /> <br />22 September 2008<br /><br />David Harris<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/an-angelic-face/
