When I sit still and silent, <br />I like to think I can hear your heart beat, <br />Beating in time with mine. <br />When I watch you speak to me, <br />Through the lines and cords, bytes and rams, <br />I imagine your voice, whispering in my ear. <br /> <br />I wait each day in anticipation, <br />For you to come online. <br />Wanting an hour or two, <br />Just so I could feel closer to you. <br /> <br />Sometimes I reach out and touch your name, <br />On the cold screen before me, <br />Wishing I could reach in and pull you to me. <br /> <br />There have been times, when I've ached for you. <br />Ached so bad that the emotions overwhelm me, <br />I'll sit and cry for hours. <br /> <br />After the first time I heard the sound of your voice, <br />Thousands of miles away, I sat up that night, <br />Replaying the conversation over and over in my mind, <br /> <br />I would give everything up, <br />just for one night near you. <br />To feel your chest rise and fall <br />with each breath you take. <br /> <br />Just so I know you are real. <br />I dream of you reaching out And taking my hand. <br />Simply to let me know you're there. <br />And everything is going to better from now on.<br /><br />Jennifer A Heskins<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/have-i-ever-told-you-4/
