So far in the distance
Their peaks can be seen,
And lit by the sunlight
Familiar they lie,
Their image and beauty
Their shape and their form,
So blissful and peaceful
They reach to the sky.

Upon the horizon
And shrouded in haze,
The hills rise above
All this wonderful land,
The fields and the meadows
The hedgerows and trees,
The picturesque Malvans
Majestically stand.

Such treasure they hold
As their splendour does rise,
In crimson they shine
On this warm summer's day,
And resting upon
All their glory and might,
The shadows of clouds
Slowly moving away.

So far in the distance
The marvellous view,
Carry me forth
And the stories they tell,
To find inspiration
In music and words,
A place in my heart
That forever will dwell.

ANDREW BLAKEMORE

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/the-malvern-hills/
