It’s a once a year occasion <br />And oh, what an exciting day <br />Gather with family and friends <br />It’s an occasion we want to stay <br /> <br />Mr. Turkey is front and center <br />Plump, juicy and deliciously brown <br />Cranberry sauce and dressing <br />At the table to pass around <br /> <br />The creamy mashed potatoes and gravy <br />Heaped right atop our plate <br />Rolls hot and flaky with melted butter <br />Add to the scrumptious food we ate <br /> <br />The green bean dishes steaming <br />With perfect crispy onions too <br />Yams so sweet and golden <br />Are brought to the table for you <br /> <br />Don’t forget the sweet yellow corn <br />That our pilgrims had long ago <br />We must always think of them too <br />We respect those people so <br /> <br />Pumpkin pie and whipped cream <br />Other delights to have as well <br />Barely are we able to eat them <br />As our bellies began to swell <br /> <br />It’s a day unlike any other <br />I hope that you can truly say <br />You were as thankful as I was with <br />A wonderful Thanksgiving Day!<br /><br />Marilyn Lott<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/thanksgiving-day-5/
