Sometimes words can be daunting, <br />other times they're just plain haunting. <br /> <br />Some words are loosely used, <br />yet you KNOW they could NEVER apply to you. <br /> <br />DRUGED, RAPED, ABUSED: <br /> <br />You hear these phrases used, <br />in a nightmare since, or on the news, <br />but you don’t think about them twice <br />because it could NEVER happen to you. <br /> <br />At least that’s how I always was, <br />naive and unaware <br />that I'd end up alone and scared, <br />because I wasn't as invincible as I'd once thought <br />and for my actions I got caught up in a situation <br />where I was victimized by his expectation. <br /> <br />To be alone with someone you think you know, <br />as he slips you a drug to help him show <br />the thing he want from you the most, <br />you lose consciousness with a strong since of morose. <br /> <br />5 hours later, <br />when you awake <br />you don't know what happened but your body does more than ache. <br />You're naked next to someone you had considered a friend, <br />wanting nothing more than the truth to bend. <br />To wake up in your own bed, <br />with nothing but a memory of a scary nightmare in your head. <br /> <br />The visit to the hospital a blur, <br />as a rape kit is done <br />strong emotions begin to occur. <br />all you are sure of is that you want to run. <br /> <br />Run, <br />far away <br />to a place in your life that was all filled with games to play. <br />Where life was an excuse for fun. <br />A place where I always got my way, <br />and my happiness was dependent on nothing but the sun. <br /> <br />But of course no matter how hard I tried, <br />i couldn't do anything but look my mother in the eye <br />and beg her not to cry.<br /><br />Payyton Egerstaffer<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/rape-29/
