Twas my night before Christmas <br />and all over our farm! <br />All our hens asleep in their coop <br />and even some, in our barn! <br /> <br />The goats had all eaten <br />untill their bellies were so full! <br />The sheep were all cozy <br />curled up asleep, in their coats of fine wool! <br /> <br />The rabbits were out playing <br />you could see, the glow from their eyes! <br />from the moon lit skies light <br />far up in the heavens high. <br /> <br />But something seemed different <br />as I gazed at it all. <br />Was a sudden hush of silence <br />that had come over it all. <br /> <br />With snow on the ground <br />and me in my robe and cap! <br />I was just about to start <br />my Christmas Eve winters nap. <br /> <br />Then the sound of sleigh bells <br />cut through the nights cold, stillness of air. <br />As I looked to the North of the farm <br />I seen it all then appear! <br /> <br />Daddy coming home, with his bundle of presents! <br />In an old horse drawn sleigh. <br />He had swapped for, some prize rooster pheasants! <br /> <br />I ran to the window to see all more clear <br />and the sliegh I thought horse drawn <br />was being pulled by, four tiny reindeer! <br /> <br />Now I knew that it all <br />seemed very strange to my eyes. <br />Now could Daddy be that fella Santa? <br />that flies through, Christmas Eve skies? <br /> <br />I heard him exclaim as he pulled into our drive <br />that Daddy's favorite gal, had a BIG Santa's surprise! <br /> <br />So as I laid in my bed <br />pretending to sleep. <br />In Daddy did tip, toe! <br />To our tree with his keep! <br /> <br />Setting the presents all under our tree <br />I knew there had to be one special present <br />Daddy had just placed there, for me! <br /> <br />'Twas My Night Before Christmas' <br />But the best present for me. <br />Was the surpise that I got from Daddy <br />on that cold Christmas Eve! <br /> <br />'Merry Christmas Daddy'<br /><br />Linda Winchell<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/twas-my-night-before-christmas/
