My courage, like the larks, has taken flight;
May God save me from this dreadful plight-

I had rose to the sky on angel's wings,
But I know not of what judgement brings...
-
I'm third in line,
Behind a young soldier who died in battle
And a small child who looks ready to cry,
Separated from her mother, still in the land of the living.
My nerves are uncontrollable.
The soldier, having died a heroic death,
Fighting for his country, should be blessed with eternity in heaven,
And the little girl too, being just a innocent child,
But I? What of me, a mere old man?
Will I pass on a glorious afterlife
Or plunge down to the hellfires of doom?
-
As Time flies by, my fate draws close,
My heart wilts like a dying rose...
-
The soldier and the little one have gone,
Called by the messenger to be presented to Him.
I'm at the very front now,
And I can see the messenger coming to get me-
-
My senses dulled, my feet heavy,
I follow to find my destiny...

Head bowed, I kneel humbly at His feet,
His voice I hear, ever clear and sweet;

'Oh please, dear God, take pity on me,
I've done no harm-let me be free!

'I've done many a sin, commited crime-
Send me to hell! For endless time! '

My courage, like the larks, has taken flight;
May God save me from this dreadful plight-

I had rose to the sky on angel's wings,
Now I shall know of what judgement brings...

Leslie Ching

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/awaiting-judgement/
