I know that in 08 <br />I made many mistakes <br />So many things I wish I could take back <br />But this is a new year so their is no looking back <br />No wishing for things I never had <br />No more dwelling on the past <br />Anything that once happened before <br />Can eventually be surpassed <br />I want a new start <br />Whatever I had to endure last year <br />I’m looking to depart <br />And for the People that may have drifted from my life <br />I’m going to make sure that it stays that way <br />For I am starting a new chapter in my life <br />although my experiences can never be erased <br />I’m pages away from my old life <br />And things that went wrong I’m not looking to make right <br />See people have done me wrong <br />And I’ve become a better person <br />I am now able to move on <br />Past the drama <br />And past the confusion <br />No matter how hard people tried to hold me back <br />I managed to keep movin <br />And I know that that’s what they hate most <br />But I respond to that by making a toast <br />A toast to a new begging and a goodbye to my past <br />If you were left in my past <br />You can’t be carried over <br /> For their was a reason our friendship couldn’t last <br />now I’m much more mature bolder <br />And whatever the reason was, I’m not looking to know <br />Because the moment I counted down to one <br />Was the moment I let go<br /><br />Shilesha Johnson<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/no-looking-back-4/
