We were at your mother's house <br />in the early autumn chill <br />rummaging the attic <br />looking at photographs; <br />close <br />in the small space, <br />turning pages <br /> <br />You leaned into me <br />to get a better look <br />and I let you. <br /> <br />A murmur <br />over a blurred baby photo <br />and the hairs on my neck <br />curled from the <br />warmth of your breath, <br /> <br />I tried to hide the fact <br />that I was shuddering. <br /> <br />'Are you cold' you said. <br />putting your arm around <br />offering warmth. <br /> <br />I took that cuddle <br />and let it settle <br />into my heart space. <br /> <br />That was all <br />that was needed then <br />a simple hug and touch <br />your warm breath <br />and I eased back <br />relaxed <br />feeling at home; <br />and I was. <br />I was thinking we were looking at family <br />and I was imagining you there in photos <br />our kids might be looking at years from now. <br /> <br />And you were: <br />you said it: <br />'Wonder what our kids would look like.' <br />you said <br /> <br />You seduced me with that question <br />and I you when I said: <br />'I wonder too.' <br /> <br />We started with a hug <br />above those photographs.<br /><br />Lonnie Hicks<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/a-seduction-small-space-photographs/
